Granular IT has organized Hackathons since 2019 because we see the potential that Kenyan youth have in the IT sector. Our quarterly event provides men and women who have a passion for coding with an opportunity to network, challenge their skills, and gain exposure to local and international markets.
Coders are problem solvers and that is why we are so excited to provide a platform where aspiring and experienced IT professionals get to practice, learn, and hopefully get hired.
Our next Hackathon will be on Friday 8th July 2022 at CMS Africa House, Ground Floor, at SNDBX. We are looking for 30 coders who will participate in a series of challenges with the goal of crowning the ultimate Hack-team.

Despite a booming IT sector in Kenya, 2 out of 5 firms struggle with hiring experienced/ skilled talent.
Firms can now cherry-pick tried and tested coders without the hustle of going through recruitment sites or the burn of “trial and error.” This provides more employment opportunities for young professionals who are looking for work/internships.
We want to give EVERYONE an opportunity to become a brilliant coder. We want ALL KENYANS from all walks of life to stand a chance to learn, network, and grow.
The task involved creating a web page that acts as a vendor dashboard to keep track of orders and also a client dashboard to create those orders. The participants were provided with a pre-built React app and they were required to build a Nodejs API that will be consumed by the React app. The API was supposed to enable functions like order creation, order fetching, user and vendor notifications, and store the data in a MongoDB database.

The task involved was to create an interactive timetable for an organization that offers courses. The minimum requirement for this task was pulling the data from a JSON file and showing it on the interactive table using javascript. Additionally, the participant could go the extra mile of adding functionalities like filtering by name, and time. delivery type, price, and so on.

This was a Hackathon geared towards enthusiasts in the IT installations & IT helpdesk space. We had a hardware challenge, where participants were asked to identify various hardware components that are used for ELV installations. We also went over how to properly use each component, in the installation process. We as well had an informational session with our installations experts, that went over Advanced server concepts, as well as Data Networking best practices.

This was a hackathon with a focus on frontend. The task involved was to create a good looking brochure website for a company in the construction industry. The participants built the concept homepage from scratch. Minimum requirement was to have a homepage with good use of layout(negative space) and is responsive.
